Based in northern Maine, we are a small farm dedicated to raising healthy Babydoll lambs and sheep goods.Olde English Babydoll Southdown Sheep are a miniature heritage breed originating from England. They are known for their teddy bear appearance, friendly temperament, compact size, quality fiber, mild and tender meat.

How big do Southdown Babydoll Sheep get?Adult Babydoll ewes typically weigh between 80–120 pounds, while mature rams generally weigh 120–180 pounds. Their smaller stature makes them much easier to handle than commercial sheep breeds.


Are Southdown Babydoll Sheep friendly?Yes. Babydoll sheep are known for their gentle, calm personalities. When handled regularly from a young age, they become very friendly and are excellent for families, educational farms, and first-time sheep owners.


Do Southdown Babydoll Sheep require shearing?Yes. Babydoll sheep produce a dense wool fleece and require shearing once each year, usually in the spring.


What color are Southdown Babydoll Sheep?Traditional Babydoll sheep are white with cream-colored wool and a gray to mouse-brown face. Modern flocks may also include black Babydolls and other naturally occurring color variations.


How much land do Babydoll sheep need?Stocking rates vary depending on pasture quality, but many small farms successfully raise several Babydoll sheep on just a few acres with proper rotational grazing and supplemental hay when needed.


What do Southdown Babydoll Sheep eat?Their primary diet consists of quality pasture and hay. Fresh water, loose sheep minerals formulated without added copper, and occasional grain for specific nutritional needs should also be provided.

Do you dock your lambs' tails?
No, we do not dock the tails of our Babydoll sheep. We believe their natural tails provide important protection and allow them to express normal behaviors. We focus on good pasture management, proper nutrition, and regular health checks to keep our sheep clean and healthy.


Are your Babydoll sheep polled?
Yes. Babydoll Southdown sheep are naturally polled, meaning both rams and ewes are born without horns. This makes them easier to handle and a great choice for families, hobby farms, orchards, and vineyards.
